What teletherapy program do you use?
When are your office hours?
I meet with my Virginia and Florida clients remotely or in-person on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
How much does each session cost?
Individual sessions (55 minutes) – $120 (for out of network clients)
I offer a free initial phone consultation during which we discuss the process of therapy tailored to your needs and your specific counseling goals.
What is your cancellation policy?
Late cancellations or missed appointments that are not a result of an emergency or illness will be billed in full per appointment ($120), so be sure to cancel with 24 hours’ advanced notice.
Do you accept insurance?
Virginia residents, I am currently in-network for Aetna and Cigna. I will soon be in-network for Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Carelon Behavioral Health for Virginia-based clients.
For Florida residents, I am currently in-network for Aetna and Cigna. I will soon be credentialed for United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar Health, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield.
For those using out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a monthly superbill for you to seek partial reimbursement for out-of-network counseling. It’s your responsibility to check with your insurance to see if they offer reimbursement for non-participating providers.
The benefits of using self-pay counseling services are confidentiality, avoiding permanent diagnoses on your medical record, and placing you in control of your care. I strongly believe that privacy is crucial for clients who are first responders, helping professionals, federal employees, and contractors with an active security clearance.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept credit card payment via the Doxy.me teletherapy session (which uses Stripe) for self-pay clients, and accept most credit cards to bill my clients using their insurance.
What age ranges are your clients?
I work with young, middle-aged, and senior adults 18 and up.
Do you only see clients who are struggling with grief, trauma, caregiving, relationship issues, and prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety?
No. I also work with adult clients coping with codependency, boundary issues, shame, depression, anxiety, anger, mild alcohol addiction, and process addictions (e.g., food, sex, porn, love, exercise).
What can I expect in my first session with you?
Our first individual session with last 55 minutes. This session gives us time to get to know one another, begin to develop an understanding of what’s going on and look toward formulating a plan of action that will help address your needs and goals.
We will review the forms that I have sent you in advance and examine your previous history.
If necessary, I may provide you with relevant generic and/or specific symptom assessments before the intake to have an objective read on your distress.
What is psychotherapy? How is it different from psychiatry?
In psychotherapy, also known as “talk therapy,” you meet with a therapist to address concerns, learn coping skills, manage distressing symptoms, understand potential causes of distress, and gain new insights while building resilience.
Psychiatry, practiced by licensed physicians, focuses on evaluating whether medication is necessary to address the issue at hand. Psychiatrists typically do not engage in counseling. Referrals for a psychiatric evaluation and medication are made when necessary, particularly for clients experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of suicidality, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, and prenatal or postpartum depression and anxiety.
Are you a Christian? Do you work with people who are not Christians?
